  • By City Ordinance, vehicles are not supposed to be left on City Streets more than 48 hours. By keeping your vehicle off helps speed up snow removal.

    • Water base charges (everybody in Beach with water on at the street is charged): $19.85 plus $8.22 per 1,000 gallons used (this is determined by the water meter-see more info. about how your water is read in other FAQs).
    • Sewer base charge (this is charged to every account in the City of Beach): $17.00 plus $.90 per 1,000 gallons used (this is based on average water usage).
    • Garbage charge varies from Residential: $17.00 to Commercial: $45 - $237.55. 
    • Garbage SC charge (which is a garbage surcharge that is charged to every account to help with landfill labor costs) varies from Residential: $.50 to Commercial: $1.10 - $29.34.
      • Example with 4,000 gallons used in a Residential lot: $19.85 + ($8.22 X 4.0) = $52.73 plus $17.00 + ($.90 X 4.0) = $20.60 plus $17.00 plus $.50 = $90.83

  • Water meters are read by radio frequency with an antenna on the south water tower. This way a city employee does not have to come into your house every month. The frequency isn't very different then your cell phone.

  • Yes. To be able to have water service turned on, sewer services need to be available also. We also include garbage on the water bills we send out.

  • All companies selling products or services door-to-door are classified as a "Transient Merchant" (ex. selling vacuum cleaners, security systems, tree services, & etc.), and all transient merchants must register with the City. If you are not sure who is a transient merchant please call City Hall for more information 872-4103.

  • Yes! You may have your pet licensed at City Hall-this is different than a rabies vaccination tag. You will need to bring a copy of your pets' rabies vaccination record. The City offers Free pet licensing usually the first week of April or whenever City Government week is scheduled.Ordinance 13.0105 STRAYS: It shall be unlawful to permit any animals to run at large in the city; any such animal running at large in any public place in the city can be impounded.Also, see Ordinance Book in Helpful Links on the bottom of any page.

  • Yes & no. Fowl is not permitted in city limits unless (always) kept within an enclosure. These fowl cannot become a nuisance (noise or odor-wize) to any persons within their vicinity. See Ordinance 13.0201 NO CHICKEN OR POULTRY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS. Also, check out Ordinance Book in Helpful Links at the bottom of any page.

Also, stop by City Hall to have your  to see how big your lot is. Unfortunately, Beach does not have a licensed surveyor on staff. The City is not liable for a dispute about lot lines. 

    The Zoning Administrator asks that you either stop at City Hall for a Building Permit Application or print an application from this site (see Applications on Home page). There is no fee for a fence.
